The Basic version of the kit contains the teacher handbook, student text, slant position guides, two pencils. The basic version contains the teacher handbook with complete lesson plans guiding the introduction of cursive as a gross motor readiness process. The student book provides color/rhythm movement models for patterning by finger tracing as well as models illustrating the application to practice paper. The first unit uses slant print as a tool to master cursive paper holding skills. All cursive forms are introduced and applied in words as the year progresses. The thick triangular pencil aids in developing a correct, relaxed grip. Rhythmic movement is always the goal. The student learns to move the pencil with the voice while reciting “action words” to create a beat.
